Davis letter: Stibnite recovery
Midas Gold from the very beginning has put the emphasis on the environment. EPA, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Mines and so on will be going over the environmental impact statement. Lots of things have changed since the 1930s through the ’80s. Regulations are much tighter and take into account environmental concerns and mistakes of the past. Midas will set the standard for mining in our country. Everyone’s concerns should be heard but we must allow progress to occur; I’m finally optimistic for the final environment recovery of this great area. The very first thing that will occur is the Superfund cleanup of Stibnite. A salmon fishery the full length of Meadow Creek will be restored and maintained during all mining activity. This project will be done in phases with each phase being rehabilitated prior to the next beginning. I encourage every Idahoan to get involved and move this project forward. It’s the first glimmer of hope Central Idaho has had for decades to help the economy. Please attend the scheduled public meetings. Send a letter of support to; Payette National Forest / Attn: Forest Supervisor Keith Lannom — Stibnite Gold EIS / 500 N. Mission St., McCall, ID 83638.
