La Follette letter: Special Olympics auto raffle

With the current wave of negative news events of late, I thought your readers would appreciate knowing that there are still incredible and generous acts of kindness that occur in the great state of Idaho on a daily basis. Steve’s Hometown Toyota has partnered with Special Olympics Idaho over the last three years for the organization’s “Fuel the Passion Auto Raffle,” which benefits close to 3,000 participating athletes across the state. Tickets are just $10 each and are sold by athletes and volunteers statewide. This year’s “Fuel The Passion Auto Raffle” featured a 2017 Toyota RAV4 as the grand prize and has been the most successful raffle so far with over 10,000 tickets sold. The proceeds from the raffle go to pay for our State Summer Games, the largest competition of the year, with over 1,000 athletes competing in seven different sports.

Special Olympics Idaho is a nonprofit, charitable organization that changes lives through the power of sport by encouraging and empowering people with intellectual disabilities, promoting acceptance for all, and fostering communities of understanding and respect. Our mission is only made possible by the generosity of the community and businesses like Steve’s Hometown Toyota.
