We have lost a national hero with the passing of Art Jackson. A ceremony honoring him will be conducted this week. But I would like to share a story of someone else we should honor.
I think it’s important that we recognize the efforts of his wife, Sally, who worked tirelessly to take care of Art’s every need. When Art went into the Community Living Center, she almost moved in. She was there nearly 24 hours a day, leaving just long enough to go home, shower and sometimes a short nap.
I think it’s important we honor her and express our thanks to her for all her efforts to protect the dignity and quality of life of this great American hero, Art Jackson.
