Hartman letter: Risch and Comey

Good news for Idaho’s criminals. According to the logic of our own senator, Jim Risch, when attempting to rob a person, as long as you simply say that you “wish” your victim would turn over their valuables to you, you can’t be charged with a crime. Just make sure you’re somehow recording your interaction to prove you said “wish” and you’ll have no problems.

How ridiculous is our senator? When the president of the United States tells every other person to leave the room before delivering his “wish,” that’s a lot different than any other circumstance of somebody saying they’re wishing for something. To not take the entirety of the circumstances into account when considering charges for a crime is crazy. The reason investigations are carried out is to determine that specifics of the case to determine what charges, if any, are to be leveled against a suspect. And if Trump himself didn’t think he was doing anything wrong, why did he feel the need to remove all others from the room first?
