Collins letter: F-35s
The Idaho Air National Guard supports F-35s at Gowen Field to avoid moving to another location. Mayor Dave Bieter, Gov. Butch Otter, the Idaho Congressional Delegation and the Statesman Editorial Board support the F-35 at Gowen because this serves their political and/or businesses interests in supplying fuel or other services to the Air Guard.
They also support making many Boise neighborhoods unlivable due to F-35 full performance and afterburner takeoffs that would impact families. The F-35 aircraft is the most efficient military aircraft for converting jet fuel into pure pandemonium.
They could be more neighborhood friendly by looking for urban friendly businesses like FedEx, UPS or other commercial interests to replace the Air National Guard. If they don’t, they should show support for continuing to base F-35s at Gowen by buying homes in southeast Boise.
EIS: F-35 has a maximum loudness that is more than 4 times louder than maximum loudness of the F-16 (see it at: http://flygtf.com/images/pdf/GTF_NEM_Appendices_Web.pdf).
