Gosling letter: Composting
I believe the Curb It compost collection is silly and illogical. First of all, how come we have to pay to get these bins and put compost in them? If you want to encourage more people to be environmental hippies how about paying us to give you compost? Personally, I think it’s a way to get money and tax dollars out of our pockets and turning it into a disguise and making it out to be a positive thing. What’s more annoying is that you have the option of not participating, but you have to pay more for not doing the program and not getting your leaves collected in the fall. You can go get the compost from the program as well, but the only people getting the compost are people with pickup trucks, because who the heck wants their car to smell and get dirty? It makes zero sense because not everyone has a truck to haul the compost in it. Also, some people have money issues and they have to save as much as they can and this program isn’t doing any favors. People shouldn’t be forced to do something to make the government happy with our taxes.
