Glover letter: Belief in America

Why should anyone bother reading the Letters to the Editor? It is always the same group of individuals, who lambast others who have different opinions. And it is these same individuals, who like others, have become part of the problem. They are not interested in finding solutions that everyone can support. For them, the only solutions are the solutions created and supported by their political party.

I am not a Liberal, Democrat or Republican. I am an American — first and always. I served in the military services for 24 years — from Vietnam to the Gulf wars. My Commanders-in-Chief and the Americans I protected were both Democrats and Republicans.

I am old-fashioned, though. I believe in honor and integrity — both of which is missing in both political parties. I believe in America — not in all of the things She has been, but in all the things She can be. I believe in the American people — not those that condemn disagreement, but those who rejoice in the freedom to disagree. I believe in constructive protest, but not the willful destruction of property and lives. And, I hope for a news media that prints and seeks the truth.
