Detmer letter: Obey or change laws
We have church leaders telling us it is OK to break the law in accepting and aiding those here illegally. What other laws are OK to break? Any? As long as it’s “non-violent”? This also breaks God’s law. We are told in the Bible to follow the law of the land, “render unto Caesar,” etc. If you don’t like the law, change the law, but there is no excuse for breaking it. Besides, “you shall have no other God....” One cannot serve two masters. Follow the law.
