Beres letter: Mental illness
Missing from an otherwise fine commentary by Glenn Close and Patrick Kennedy (Feb. 11) was reference to prevention of mental illness. The “weight of mental illness,” as they describe it, might be lessened by therapy for those who show early signs of such illness.
Absence of such therapy demands that those who deal with mental illness address ways of recognizing early stages of the illness, then treating it with ways to diminish its growth.
