Atwell letter: Protected species
The March 11 Idaho Statesman included a short story about an area near Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center which is temporarily closing to allow nesting bald eagles the best chance to hatch and raise chicks. According to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act , destroying the eggs could lead to a prison sentence and a fine of up to $250,000. I would like to live in a country that extends the same interest and protection to an unborn human being.
