Williams letter: Dow at 20,000
We see in the Jan. 26 Statesman “Dow at 20,000: What does it mean?” This brings back to mind the only individual lecture in economics that I remember while I was a student at the University of Idaho. The discussion was “When or if the Dow Jones would ever reach 1,000.” That would have been somewhere in the early 1950s and at the time the Dow was in the mid-600s.
