Burkett letter: Gun laws

Why is that everyone blames an inanimate object but not the person responsible?

A gun is tool. It is not evil or good. We never talk about the person using it to commit these horrendous acts.

Countries that have taken away guns have seen an increase in their violent crimes. Criminals do not obey laws. That's why they are criminal.

There were never automatic weapons used in any mass shooting. These types of weapons are illegal and are not available to the general public. FBI statistics show more people are killed each year with hammers and knives. But we don't outlaw these do we?

You ignore the real fact. It isn’t the gun, can’t be. It’s always the person behind it that doesn’t care about human life. People like you always take that part of the equation out.

I own many guns and I carry on a daily basis. My safety is important to me. Not paranoid but the world is an evil place at times. Not one of my guns has ever hurt anyone, and God willing, it will stay that way. But I am prepared just in case.
