Come sit in on Ed Board meeting

Along with the Idaho Statesman’s new publisher, Debra Leithauser, we’ve been making plans for new approaches on the Opinion pages and contemplating a few changes involving our Editorial Board as we work to serve you better in 2016.

First off, we are delighted to welcome Sophie Sestero to the board. She is a senior account executive with Fahlgren Mortine. Sophie also served on the Statesman’s 2015 Mayoral Election Panel and has been active in Boise Young Professionals.

Second, we want to send out another invitation to the public to come join us for an Editorial Board meeting this year. We made this same offer in 2015 and about a dozen members of the community came in to join in the conversation and weigh in on issues we were considering.

Whether you have a specific topic to discuss or you would just like to learn more about us, we invite you to become a “guest community member” for a day and join us at the table where we discuss community issues and sometimes take positions on political candidates. We generally meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesdays at the Statesman, although we might take the board on the road a few times this year.

We are reaching out to civic-minded college students, young professionals and any other adults who would like to attend a meeting. Contact Heather Harradine at hharradine@idahostatesman.com and please put “Invitation: Editorial Board Meeting” in the subject field.
