Record heat, wind and rain forecast for Boise area. When to expect cooler weather

It’s about to get hot, Boise.

Record or near-record heat will impact the state ... as a strong ridge of high pressure remains centered over the region,” the National Weather Service said in the latest Idaho state forecast discussion.

The forecast calls for high temperatures “20 to 25 degrees above seasonal averages across southern and eastern Idaho.”

However, “breezy to gusty” winds will eventually bring cooler weather to Idaho, the weather service said.

Idaho will see a “significant pattern change” starting Wednesday, May 13, according to the forecast.

That’s when a “Pacific low-pressure system moves inland, bringing widespread chances for precipitation and cooler temperatures,” the weather service said its state forecast discussion. “This shift will likely transition the state to an unsettled and much cooler pattern through the upcoming weekend.”
