The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for the Treasure Valley on Thursday with wind gusts up to 55 mph expected.

Sustained winds are expected at 25 to 35 mph.

The wind advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday but wind gusts could still be as high as 31 mph at that time, according to the National Weather Service. The winds are expected to start decreasing to 5 to 10 mph after midnight. The forecast high temperature is 62 degrees.

The wind gusts could blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may occur, the National Weather Service advised. Patio furniture and other items should be secured ahead of the wind gusts. The strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, and extra caution is advised.

Winds between 5 and 8 mph are expected through Friday into the evening.
