Potentially record-breaking warm weather headed toward Boise area this week
Boise residents can expect to spring into warmer weather Thursday as forecasts predict a high around 82 degrees.
The warmer temperature isn’t totally unexpected with Wednesday’s weather bringing an expected high of 70 degrees and a forecast of mostly sun.
“Thursday is gonna be the warmest day so … we’re warming up a little bit ahead of the peak on Thursday,” David Groenert, meteorologist at the National Weather Service Boise office, said in an interview.
Thursday’s predicted high temperature is expected to challenge the record for that date set in 2023 at 82 degrees. Time to enjoy the warmer temperatures and catch some sun rays is limited with Friday bringing some clouds, Groenert said.
“It’s more of a typical spring; Friday with some clouds and then certainly Saturday we’ll get into that low-pressure system that’ll bring some colder weather to us,” he said. “It’s more of the up and down. By Saturday, we have a high of 56, which is about 5 degrees below normal. We have our roller coaster for the time being.”
As the spring weather continues to move toward summer, residents should be careful of nearby streams and rivers.
“When it warms up, it’s tempting to cool down in a river or something like that but that could be dangerous with the temperature that they’re at — they’re pretty cold,” Groenert said, adding that residents should be mindful of the fast moving waters as spring runoff continues.
