Wind, rain headed for Boise this evening as cold front arrives. Here’s what to expect
Boiseans can expect some sideways rain Wednesday evening when a cold front moving through brings high winds and precipitation to the area, National Weather Service Boise Meteorologist Les Colin said.
Residents might want to secure loose property to make sure it doesn’t get blown away, Colin said. Forecasters are expecting sustained winds above 30 miles per hour or wind gusts of 45 to 57 miles per hour.
The expected timing for the worst of the weather is around 8 to 9 p.m., he said.
The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory for the upper Treasure Valley from 6 to 9 p.m.
“It’s going to rain pretty hard here for about an hour,” Colin said. “By midnight, all of that should be moved out.”
However, temperatures are going to drop with the cold front. Forecasters are expecting a low of 35 degrees Thursday and a low of 32 on Friday, Colin said. The Thursday high is expected to land in the mid-50s.
It will warm up after that, however, with high temperatures this weekend in the upper 60s. That’s almost 10 degrees above normal for this time of year, Colin said.
And after that, another cold front is expected to come through on Monday.
