Harvest your gardens by Tuesday night. Boise could see fall’s first freezing temps
The National Weather Service says Treasure Valley residents should protect their crops and reinforce outdoor plumbing to prepare for the area’s first freezing temperatures of autumn this week.
Temperatures are expected to plummet in the Treasure Valley on Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service, which on Monday issued a freeze warning from 3 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The chill could bring winter-like temperatures as low as 28 degrees, according to the the Weather Service. This could damage outdoor plumbing, crops, flowers and other sensitive vegetation.
The weather service also issued a freeze warning for the western Magic Valley from 3 to 11 a.m. Tuesday.
A freeze warning means the freeze is imminent or likely.
Wednesday’s forecast cold spell is normal for this time of the fall in Boise. The average date for a first freeze in the city is Oct. 15.
