A cold snap will hit Boise next week, bringing high temps in the 40s and possibly snow
A cold front moving into the Treasure Valley midweek will bring unseasonably chilly temperatures and the potential for rain or snow showers, according to the Boise branch of the National Weather Service.
Meteorologist Dave Groenert said in a phone interview that temperatures will start to fall on Wednesday.
“At this point, we’re looking at the weekend for another round of even colder temperatures,” Groenert said.
On Saturday, the high could be 46 degrees, while Sunday will be even colder with a forecast high of 42. That’s about 15 degrees cooler than the average temperature this time of year, which hovers around 60 degrees.
The weekend might also bring precipitation. Groenert said it’s a hard detail to pin down, but early models show possible rain in the Treasure Valley or even light snow showers. Any snow likely won’t stick around.
“Any kind of accumulation is going to be still in the mountains,” Groenert said.
The weather will begin to warm again the following week as the cold front moves east.
