Is Republican Gov. Brad Little running for reelection? Do these signs add up?
A plane towing a banner that read “Little for Idaho” circled over Boise Friday afternoon, according to CBS2 News. It raised the question: Is Gov. Brad Little running for reelection?
He’s made no official announcements yet, and the person who picked up a Friday call to his campaign phone line did not answer a question about whether any decisions had been made. But the existence of the phone line — and a campaign website and campaign funding page — suggest that the two-term Republican governor is seeking a third.
So far this election cycle, Little has received about $1.5 million in campaign contributions, and spent nearly $300,000.
If he wins, he’d be the fourth governor in the state’s history to serve three terms — and only the third to do so consecutively.
In June, President Donald Trump endorsed Little, 72, for another term, the Idaho Statesman previously reported.
“Brad Little is the strong and highly popular Governor of Idaho,” Trump posted on Truth Social, the president’s social media platform. “Brad Little has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election — HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!”
Under state law, Little must file his declaration of candidacy by next Friday, Feb. 27.
Republican Mark Fitzpatrick, Independent John Stegner and Democrat Terri Pickens have announced their candidacy for governor.
