Who’s running for Ada County Commission in District 1? Hear from the candidates
Both Democrats and Republicans will have a choice on the May 19 primary ballot for Ada County Commissioner District 1.
Kelceymarie Warner, who finished in fourth place in the Garden City City Council race in 2025, and C. Aaron Swisher, a former congressional candidate, will face off in the Democratic primary.
The incumbent, Ryan Davidson, is up against challenger Holly Cook. Cook recently filed a voter registration challenge against Davidson, arguing his listed address was a vacant lot for sale. Davidson told the Idaho Statesman he lives next door and intends to return to the lot once housing is built on the land.
Ada County issued a clerk’s challenge to Davidson after the complaint was filed, according to spokesperson Nicole Newby.
The clerk’s inquiry is required by law after someone files a complaint, said Saul Seyler, Ada County’s elections director. Davidson has 20 days to update his information or stand by his listed address, Seyler said in a phone interview.
Ada County District 1 contains Garden City and large swaths of Boise. Commissioners are elected at-large, but they have to live in the district they represent, according to Ada County.
The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates, and their responses are presented below, unedited except for accusations against a competitor that could not be verified (swipe or scroll to see all candidates).
