Kody Daffer, left and Rep. Steve Tanner, right, are competing in the May 19, 2026, primary for the Republican nomination for District 13 House Seat B.

Two Nampa residents will face off in May to earn the Republican nomination for one of District 13’s two seats in the Idaho House of Representatives.

Incumbent Rep. Steve Tanner is seeking a second two-year term representing District 13 Seat B against Nampa Planning and Zoning Commissioner Kody Daffer.

The winner is slated to face Democrat Cody Gorman in the November general election.

Tanner won his first term unopposed in the 2024 general election after unseating incumbent Rep. Kenny Wroten in a competitive Republican primary. Now, the freshman budget hawk will make his case against Daffer, who is seeking his first elected position. Daffer ran for a seat on the Nampa City Council last fall, losing to now-Council Member Debbie Skaug.

The House seat is the only one of District 13’s three legislative positions with a competitive primary this spring.

In a rematch of 2024, Rep. Brent Crane, Republican chair of both the State Affairs and House Ethics and Policy committees, is expected to run for his 11th term in November’s House Seat A election against Democrat Cliff Hohman. And Republican Sen. Brian Lenney will be chasing his third term against Democrat challenger Letishia Silva.

District 13 covers part of downtown and southeast Nampa. You can find your legislative district here, and look up your polling place here. To learn more about these and other local races, check out the Idaho Statesman’s Voter Guide.
