Who’s running for Boise City Council? Check out our Voter Guide
Two City Council seats are up for grabs in Boise, where each incumbent faces two challengers.
Jimmy Hallyburton, who is seeking his third term, faces Lynn Bradescu and Lisa Sánchez in District 6.
Colin Nash, seeking his second term in District 2, faces Josh Ellstrom and Derek James Smith. Nash was appointed to the council in April 2023 before winning a two-year term that November.
Smith has been open about his past meth addiction, and has drug charges from Maryland and Ohio. He said he wanted people to know they could overcome what they’ve been through. For more details, read what we found when we conducted background checks on 68 local candidates.
The candidates sounded off on balancing the needs of homeowners and renters, private property rights and the biggest challenges Boise residents face.
For this Voter Guide story, the Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates, and their responses are presented below, unedited. The Statesman asked candidates about growth, renters, homeowners and private property rights.
