Who’s running in the election for Idaho attorney general? Hear from the candidates
Idaho will have a new state lawyer next year, after longtime Attorney General Lawrence Wasden was defeated in the GOP primary election.
Republican Raúl Labrador and Democrat Tom Arkoosh are vying to replace him in the Nov. 8 general election. Labrador, a former congressman and immigration attorney from Nampa, handily defeated Wasden in the May primary, denying him a sixth four-year term.
Arkoosh, a Boise attorney who specializes in water rights litigation, did not participate in the Democratic primary but was later appointed by the party to replace a candidate who withdrew.
The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates, and their responses are copied below, unedited. The candidates discuss how they would build a team of lawyers to defend contentious Idaho legislation.
