Who’s running for Meridian’s Legislative District 21? Hear from the candidates
Several candidates will be running in the Nov. 8 general election to represent Idaho’s Legislative District 21.
District 21 encompasses nearly 53,000 residents and includes portions of Meridian. It is bordered by West Ustick Road in the north, East Victory Road in the south, North McDermott Road in the west and North Eagle Road in the east.
The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates in contested races on a variety of issues. Their responses are below, unedited.
Four candidates will square off in the general election for the House position A seat: Constitution Party candidate Daniel Weston, Democrat Josi Christensen, Libertarian Mike Long and Republican James Petzke. Weston, Christensen and Long did not respond to the survey.
For the Senate seat, Constitution Party candidate Monica McKinley faces Republican Treg Bernt. McKinley did not respond to the survey.
Republican primary winner Jeff Ehlers is running uncontested for House position B in the general election. All legislative positions are two-year terms.
