Who’s running for Ada County coroner? Hear from the two candidates on the issues

Voters in Ada County have a choice to make in the November coroner’s race.

Incumbent Dotti Owens, a Democrat, faces Rich Riffle, a Republican.

The coroner is responsible for investigating unusual deaths. A new expanded building, in Meridian, is expected to be completed in 2023.

The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates, and their responses are copied below, unedited. Use the horizontal scroll bar underneath each Q&A as needed to read the full Q&A. You also can click on the chart and drag horizontally.

In responses, candidates discussed the planned new building, national coroner’s standards and the importance of professionalism.

Months of fundraising have gone into the campaigns.
