Heard of Vinoyasa? One of the US’s best yoga and wine experiences is just south of Boise
Building up the motivation to commit to a workout can be a challenging hurdle, especially if it’s something you haven’t done before.
Instructed yoga is one of those — the poses can be unfamiliar, tough to learn, and perhaps even a little embarrassing to perform in front of others.
But what if you could do yoga outside in the sun with a glass of wine waiting as a reward?
USA Today’s 10Best series ranks the top 10 locations in the United States for various topics, from the best outdoor concert series to the best rivers and lakes. One of its newest lists is especially unique: the best destinations where yoga and wine pair perfectly.
“Both activities require being in the moment and tuning into your senses,” USA Today writer and yoga studio owner Jean Chen Smith writes. “During yoga, you pay attention to your body and movement, while at a wine tasting, you focus on the olfaction and taste sensories.”
Idaho isn’t necessarily known for its vineyards, but according to USA Today, one of the best spots for yoga and wine is right here in the Treasure Valley.
Indian Creek Winery in Kuna was included on the list, with USA Today highlighting the winery’s “unique high desert climate” and large lawn on which to perform yoga. After yoga finishes, guests can remain on the grounds for a picnic and sip some wine.

Indian Creek Winery and Stowe Vineyard are about a 30-minute, 20-mile drive from downtown Boise. It was founded in 1982 by Bill and Mui Stowe, who were joined in 2005 by their daughter, Tammy, and her husband, Mike.
“Stowe Vineyard is our Estate 20 acre vineyard on our unique caliche soils,” the winery writes on its website. “Set at 2,700 feet elevation in a climate of 4 seasons and an average of 12″ rainfall each year.”
The winery offers multiple events throughout the year, including the aptly named Vinoyasa, named after the Vinyasa style of yoga. Indian Creek Winery pairs with Body Calm Studio for the event, with the latter running the yoga segment.
“Bring friends, a picnic basket and your yoga mat!” Body Calm Studio writes on its website. “Food trucks often join our event, so bring your appetite! There is also live music most Sundays throughout the summer.”
Vinoyasa runs on nine weekends from May through September. The schedule can be found on Indian Creek Winery’s website.
The event includes one hour of yoga and one complimentary glass of wine, with all classes on Sundays starting at 11 a.m. General admission is $22, or $20 for existing Wine Club or Body Calm members. Preregistration is required.
