Some Americans would give 7 years of life to become a millionaire. What about Idahoans?
How many months and years of life would the average Idahoan give away to live a millionaire lifestyle? Compared to other states, not much.
Finance and culture outlet Wealth of Geeks surveyed 3,000 U.S. adults to see what they would sacrifice for millionaire status. Apparently, Idahoans are much more content with their current lives than much of the country.
The average Idahoan would give up just six months of their life to live like a millionaire, tying with North Dakota and Indiana for lowest. For context, the average amount of time a person would be willing to give up nationwide is 4 years and 11 months.
People in New Hampshire are the most desperate to live the millionaire lifestyle, willing to give up a mind-boggling 7 years and 11 months.
The average life expectancy in the United States is 76.4 years, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, meaning the average person from New Hampshire is willing to forgo 10.3% of their life.
In comparison, the average Idahoan is only willing to give up 0.7% of their life.
The lack of commitment to becoming a millionaire from Idahoans is fairly unique among it’s neighbors, too. Wyoming residents were only willing to give up 10 months, but those from Oregon would give up 5 years and 6 months, and Washingtonians had the fourth-highest average of 6 years and 2 months.
