Two former Idaho Statesman reporters have partnered on a new internship program that will provide opportunity to Idaho’s aspiring Latino journalists.

The Voces Internship of Idaho is raising money to support full-time summer scholarships and part-time fall or spring semester scholarships. Participants must have graduated from an Idaho high school and be a college junior, senior or recent graduate, and they must be of Hispanic or Latino descent.

The program was produced by Nicole Foy and Ximena Bustillo, who previously worked at the Statesman. Interns selected by the program will be paired with an Idaho newsroom that fits their goals. The Statesman has committed to participating.

The application deadline is April 24. More information is available at vocesinternship.com.

Voces also is raising money to pay the salaries of the interns, who will make a minimum of $15 per hour. Tax-deductible donations are available at vocesinternship.com/be-a-supporter.
