Longtime KTVB news anchor set to retire
One of Boise’s best-known television news anchors is leaving the business.
After 40 years at KTVB-Channel 7, Dee Sarton announced her retirement in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
“For the past four decades KTVB has given me a dream job in the most wonderful place on earth, and soon I’ll be able to start in on my bucket list — most of which I’ve developed while covering or watching amazing stories on our news,” Sarton said in the release. “I’ll be retiring with a heart overflowing with great memories and immeasurable gratitude. I thank KTVB and our entire community for making my career and my life more fulfilling than anyone deserves.”
Her last day will be June 6.
Sarton won numerous local and regional broadcasting awards. She was also very active in the community, serving on boards of numerous non-profits, including the Special Needs Adoption Board, Children’s Home Board, the Hidden Springs Charter School Board, the Literacy Lab advisory Board and the Assistance League Community Advisory Council.
She was inducted into the Idaho Hall of Fame and National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Silver Circle.
“Personally and professionally, it has been an honor to work alongside Dee Sarton,” KTVB News Group President and General Manager Kate Morris said in the release. “Her contributions to the legacy success of KTVB are immeasurable.”
