Suitcase of human remains found by TikTokers finally leads Seattle police to a suspect

It’s been two months since a group of teenagers found a suitcase on a Seattle beach and posted a video about it on TikTok, commenting about the stench inside the bag.

Police were called and they discovered human remains inside the suitcase, as well as inside another bag found in the ocean, McClatchy News reported.

On Wednesday, a suspect was jailed on suspicion of murder in the case, the Seattle Police Department said in a news release.

Police arrested a 62-year-old man at his home in Burien, according to the release. Authorities interviewed the suspect and he was later booked into the King County Jail, police said.

The suspect’s bail is set at $5 million, KING 5 News reported. He was renting a home to the victims before they were killed, according to KIRO.

The Seattle Police Department did not release any other information, nor did they identify the suspect.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the two victims as Jessica Lewis, 35, and Austin Wenner, 27, McClatchy News reported. They both died of gunshot wounds on June 16; their remains were found on June 19.

Seattle police announced they were investigating the case as a homicide on June 30.

The investigation is ongoing.
