Cellphone data leads family to missing woman found dead in street, Minnesota cops say
A 25-year-old woman who went missing for a short time was found dead by her family using cellphone data, Minnesota police said.
Officers responded at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 1 to reports of “an unresponsive person lying on the ground,” according to a news release from the Minneapolis Police Department.
They found a 25-year-old woman with “at least one apparent gunshot wound,” according to authorities.
Police learned the woman’s family, after not hearing from her since the night of Nov. 30, used cellphone location data to track her.
“My heart aches for this family,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in the release. “The thought that a family member is murdered is unbearable.”
The woman’s identity along with the cause and manner of death will be released by the Hennepin County medical examiner, authorities said.
