Sheetz is offering discounted gas as drivers gear up to hit the road for the holidays.

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 19, drivers can get 40 cents off per gallon of Unleaded 88 gas when they fill up at Sheetz stations that carry the fuel grade, according to the restaurant and convenience store chain.

The discount is available through Saturday, Nov. 30, per a company news release.

The chain has more than 700 locations across the Mid-Atlantic, including in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.06 as of Nov. 19, according to AAA. That’s one cent cheaper than one week ago.

What’s Unleaded 88?

Approved by the Environmental Protection Agency, Unleaded 88 is considered an environmentally friendly fuel grade for vehicles 2001 and newer, according to the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association.

It burns cleaner, reduces toxins and has a higher octane value than the more common E87 fuel, experts say.
