‘Little Yellowstone’ has been in same family since 1895. Now Wyoming ranch is for sale

A ranch that completely encompasses a “passion for the American West” has landed on the real estate market in Meeteetse, Wyoming, for a whopping $85 million.

While the price might be a tad high, the property itself is not only massive, but it also comes with striking extras (and a familiar name).

“Owned by the May family since 1895, this iconic ranch—affectionately known as ‘Little Yellowstone’ —is a rare gem located in the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem,” a news release about the property says.

“Spanning an astounding ±16,532 deeded acres and controlling over 40,000 acres, the ranch boasts diverse landscapes, abundant wildlife, and a rich history of stewardship and conservation.”

Also known as “Antlers Ranch,” the property has “63 miles of border with federal or state-protected land” and is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. The ranch is home to wildlife, including:

  • Moose

  • Elk

  • Antelope

  • White-tailed deer

  • Mule deer

People refer to it as Little Yellowstone,” listing agent Latham Jenkins told Cowboy State Daily. “And that has to do with the amount of controlled acreage. It’s a phenomenal amount of wildlife habitat, and the reference to Little Yellowstone is because it has more than 330 species of wildlife on it, and it’s connected to the Shoshone National Forest, which is part of the Greater Yellowstone.”

Structures on the ranch, per State Daily, include:

  • Two primary residences

  • Four homes

  • A bunkhouse

  • A duplex

  • Two ranch-style homes

The listing is held by Jenkins, Matt MacMillan and Toby Griffith of Live Water Properties.

Meeteetse is about 85 miles southeast from Yellowstone National Park.
