An 18-year-old woman was found shot and killed in a neighboring town from where she had been reported missing hours earlier, Pennsylvania authorities say.

The woman, who the Allegheny County Police Department has not publicly identified, was reported missing to the North Versailles Police Department at 1:20 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Multiple police departments were involved in the search for the woman, who was ultimately found shot to death at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday, police said. Her body was discovered in the Cambridge Square Apartments in Monroeville, a few miles north from North Versailles.

Authorities determined the woman’s death was a homicide, and they arrested an 18-year-old man from Wilkinsburg.

McClatchy News is not naming the arrested man because he has not been formally charged as of Thursday morning. A motive for the killing is unclear.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Allegheny County police at 1-833-255-8477.

Monroeville is about a 15-mile drive east from Pittsburgh.
