Winning Powerball tickets from NC haven’t been claimed yet — and time is running out
Two winning Powerball tickets are set to expire soon in North Carolina, but no one has claimed the prizes yet.
The last day to claim a Powerball ticket worth $100,000 is Monday, June 24, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
Someone bought it in Greensboro at a Publix on West Gate City Boulevard and won big in the Dec. 25 drawing, lottery officials said.
The winning numbers were 5-12-20-24-29 and Powerball of 4.
Someone else is holding a ticket worth $200,000 that hit big in the Dec. 30 drawing, when the numbers were 10-11-26-27-34 and Powerball of 7, lottery officials said.
That ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven on Idlewild Road in Stallings in Union County, according to the N.C. Education Lottery. The deadline to claim it is Thursday, June 27.
Both players hit four out of five white balls and the red Powerball, which would normally have won them $50,000, officials said. But they each increased their prizes by adding Power Play to their tickets, according to lottery officials.
“We are urging everyone who plays Powerball, especially in these areas, to check all the tickets they have to see if they own the winning tickets,” N.C. Education Lottery Executive Director Mark Michalko said. “We all have our fingers crossed that the winning tickets will be found so we can present big checks to the two winners.”
