‘Inseparable’ kitten sisters bonded in ‘loving home.’ Now they need new one — together
Two kitten sisters formed a close bond in a “loving home” — and now, they need a new one.
Dolly and Pearl need to stick together after their “truly heartbroken” owners made the difficult decision to return them, a North Carolina animal rescue wrote on its website.
“They will be kept together,” the Humane Society of Davie County wrote April 9 on Facebook. “It is the right thing to do for their well-being.”
The sisters’ journey at the humane society started in June, when they arrived with their other litter mate, Reba.
“They were born to a feral mom and a lady trapped her to have her spayed,” the rescue told McClatchy News in an email. “She fostered the kittens and socialized them since they were in a dangerous area near a busy road.”
At the time, Pearl was known as Shania, so the girls all boasted the names of country music stars. Eventually, Reba was adopted into a different home than her sisters.
“Dolly and Pearl were adopted together and have been inseparable since,” the rescue wrote. “Pearl appears to be the ring-leader while Dolly is the quiet observer. They are both very sweet and social and enjoy spending all their time together; Pearl will cry if she is separated from her sister.”
The siblings grew close in their “loving home,” but the situation didn’t work out.
“Unfortunately a family member is now allergic,” the animal organization wrote. “Even though their family has tried to make it work, they are getting worse. They are truly heartbroken and devastated to have to rehome them.”
As of April 11, the cats were up for adoption again. Photos shared online show 11-month-old Dolly snuggling with Pearl, a kitten known for having the “cutest pointy ears.”
“Their playful spirits and unique personalities — with Pearl’s leadership and Dolly’s adventurous nature — make them a delightful pair for any cat lover,” the rescue wrote.
