Wayward cow escapes pasture to go ‘trick-or-treating’ in Colorado neighborhood. See it
A wayward cow busted out of its pasture and was caught “trick-or-treating” in a Colorado neighborhood, authorities said.
The runaway cow was spotted standing among deflated Halloween decorations in a front yard, officials with the Parker Police Department said in an Oct. 22 post on Facebook.
“Missing a cow?” officials said in the post. “Officers observed this cow trick-or-treating this morning near Cottonwood Dr and Jordan Rd and would love to help reunite it with its owners!”
Video posted to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s page on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows the runaway cow pacing near cars parked in a driveway and then trotting along a residential street as it dodges deputies — armed with lassos — trying to herd it into a livestock trailer.
The post is chock-full of cow puns.
“Steer clear! Our deputies had a real beef with a runaway cow this morning,” officials said in the post. “Turns out a heifer high-tailed it from its pasture in Parker and ended up in a residential neighborhood” about 5 miles north, officials added.
Deputies “tried to wrangle the cow along with its owner and his fellow cowboys,” but video shows they had a bit of trouble.
“The steaks were high and we didn’t want to butcher this slow-speed chase but this cow was moooooving!” officials said.
Video shows the cow eventually ended up at a small park with a playground, where a person wearing a cowboy hat successfully herds the cow into the livestock trailer by chasing it on foot.
“Holy cow! You all did an udderly good job,” officials said. “Now let’s milk this for all it’s worth.”
Several people commented on the posts saying they saw the cow in their neighborhood and couldn’t believe their eyes.
“(It) ran by our house about 5:45… walked to Jordan (road) and then came back by and mooed,” someone said. “My husband thought I was crazy!!”
Others praised the efforts of those who jumped in to help.
“Wow… I love this town!” someone said, calling the response to the lost cow “really MOOOOOOving!!”
