Curious bear takes 400 ‘selfies’ with trail camera in Colorado. ‘Is my snout too long?’
Wildlife officials in Colorado were delighted by a bear’s “selfies” — all 400 of them.
The bear stumbled across a trail camera officials use to monitor wildlife, according to Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.
“Of the 580 photos captured, about 400 were bear selfies,” the organization said on Twitter on Jan. 23.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s northeast region, which covers Boulder, shared the tweet and quipped: “Felt cute, might delete later.”
Twitter users joined in on the fun in the comments. Many joked that the bear could model professionally.
“There’s some Blue Steel in the 3rd picture…hire that bear model!” one wrote, referring to the modeling pose featured in the film “Zoolander.”
Others joked about what the bear must have been thinking during the selfie photo shoot.
“I think I look OK from the front but what about the side? Is my snout too long?”
Some joked about the bear setting up an online dating profile.
“Looking for a mate and heard online dating is the way to go,” someone wrote. “Likes fish dinners and long naps.”
Speaking of long naps, some users asked officials why the bear was still awake and not hibernating through the winter.
They explained the photos were taken in November, when bears start hibernating but will sometimes pop back out on warmer days. They originally posted the photo on their Instagram Nov. 26.
“That fourth one is his Tinder profile pic,” someone wrote in the comments of the Instagram post.
