‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ won’t air on cable this year. How to stream it for free
Don’t bother looking for “A Charlie Brown Christmas” on the TV guide channel this year. You won’t find it there.
But you also won’t need to pay for some new streaming service to see it, either.
Though Apple TV+ acquired the rights to three “Charlie Brown” holiday specials, the streaming service stays true to the spirit of the specials and makes them available to nonsubscribers for a few days around the holidays.
In previous years, Apple TV+ had reached a deal with PBS to air the specials on cable in 2020 and 2021. This year, they’re only available on Apple TV+, but they will be free to stream for a limited time.
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” will be available for nonsubscribers from Thursday, Dec. 22, to Sunday, Dec. 25, Apple TV+ said in a news release.
The streaming service offered a similar viewing structure for Peanuts’ Halloween and Thanksgiving specials, McClatchy News previously reported.
Apple TV+ has also made other classic Peanuts holiday specials available, but only to subscribers who pay the $6.99 fee each month. “I Want a Dog for Christmas” and “Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales” came to the platform for the first time on Dec. 2.
