Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour presale has fans telling Ticketmaster, ‘You’re the problem’
The presale began on Tuesday, Nov. 15, for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour, sending Swifties into a frenzy as they hope to be among the lucky fans to secure tickets.
Fans had to register for the presale and learned on Monday if they were selected to participate. The presale began at 10 a.m. Tuesday, but winning the lottery to gain access to tickets was only the first hurdle fans had to jump.
Ticketmaster told people who registered for tickets there was a “historic demand” for the 52-date tour. When the online queue opened at 9:30 a.m., thousands of fans were already in the waiting rooms for each tour date.
Being invited to participate in the presale did not necessarily guarantee fans the option to buy tickets, as many people remained in the waiting rooms with thousands of ticket-buyers ahead of them.
Citing a viral lyric from Swift’s song “Anti-Hero” from her new album, “Midnights,” many people are calling Ticketmaster the “problem.”
“Hi, it’s me, I’m the problem — is solely directed to Ticketmaster and Ticketmaster only,” one fan said.
Ticketmaster provided tips for ticket buyers, reminding them to arrive early and hold steady in the queue.
Some users shared screengrabs on social media of Ticketmaster crashing for them, as the site said it was “experiencing technical difficulties.”
More than 45 minutes after the presale began, some users said they remained in the queue.
But there were lucky Swifties. Fans who secured tickets to the highly-anticipated tour shared their joy on social media.
“Hundreds of thousands of tickets” had been sold as of 1 p.m., Ticketmaster said. Millions had been waiting in the queues.
Swift’s tour begins March 17 in Glendale, Arizona. She will be performing in 20 cities, all of which will have multiple tour dates.
