Divers found the body of a man in a river one day after he was reported missing in Vermont, according to officials in neighboring New Hampshire.

Harvey Carroll, 44, of Mississippi was seen walking toward a dock along the Connecticut River near Norwich, Vermont, the evening of Sept. 7 before disappearing, a Sept. 9 news release from New Hampshire Fish and Game says.

Authorities believe Carroll fell off the dock and into the river, which runs through Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

One day after Carroll went missing, his body was found in Hanover, New Hampshire, on Sept. 8 after a local fire department pinpointed a location of interest in the river using sonar technology, according to the release.

New Hampshire Fish and Game divers retrieved Carroll’s body around 4:30 p.m., officials say.

Carroll was staying at a hostel prior to his disappearance, Masslive.com reported.

No other information about Carroll was available as of Sept. 9, according to the release.

Hanover is roughly 130 miles northwest of Boston.
