A snowmobiler in Montana was injured after colliding with a tree near Yellowstone National Park.

The crash took place around 10 a.m. Feb. 26, Gallatin County Sheriff Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post. Officials responded to the scene at a trail south of West Yellowstone and found the snowmobiler and his passenger, who reportedly both had pelvic injuries and had potentially broken their ribs after crashing into the tree.

Volunteers took the snowmobiler and his passenger to an ambulance, the post said. From there, the department released one patient and transported the other to a local hospital for treatment.

In the post, Sheriff Dan Springer recommended that snowmobilers be cautious while carrying passengers by making sure their vehicles are intended for two people, stay with their groups, and carry emergency kits.

Yellowstone has seen a number of other snowmobile incidents this year. On Feb. 23, a snowmobiler who got separated from their partner was found dead, and earlier in February, another snowmobiler died after getting caught in an avalanche, McClatchy News reported.

A week afterward, another snowmobiler crashed and broke a leg while heading into West Yellowstone, McClatchy News reported.

West Yellowstone is about a mile northwest of Yellowstone National Park.
