Driver accused of DUI plows into three construction workers, Utah cops say

A woman was arrested early Tuesday morning after she crashed her pickup and struck three construction workers in Utah, according to local media reports.

Before the crash, a passenger in the woman’s truck called 911 to say the driver was having problems with the accelerator and could not stop, according to KSTU.

Witnesses told troopers with the Utah Highway Patrol the truck seemed to be speeding before the crash, KSL reported.

The driver crashed on Interstate 15 around 4 a.m. and hit three construction workers, who were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to KTVX.

One other car was involved, KSTU reported.

“We lucked out,” said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Rick Shrader, according to KSTU. “One was taken by ambulance and the other was taken quickly by one of the supervisors here at the construction site ... really, really lucky.”

Troopers arrested the woman for a non-alcohol related DUI, KTVX reported.

Reports did not name the driver.
