Boise pedestrian critically injured while walking on I-84 in Meridian

A man was injured while walking along the interstate in the early morning hours of Sunday.

A 76-year-old Boise man was walking in the far-right, westbound lane of Interstate 84 when a vehicle hit him at 2:37 a.m. near the South Locust Grove Road intersection in Meridian, Idaho State Police said in a news release.

First responders transported the pedestrian in an ambulance to a local hospital, according to the release. Police said the man was in “critical condition.”

The 19-year-old Meridian man driving the vehicle was uninjured, law enforcement said.

Traffic at the crash scene was blocked for about three hours.

State police are investigating the accident. The agency was assisted at the scene by the Meridian Police Department, Meridian Fire Department, and Ada County Paramedics.
