Expect traffic delays around Fruitland, Payette next week for U.S. 95 work

A road resurfacing project will impact traffic on U.S. 95 in Payette County beginning Tuesday, June 2.

The Idaho Transportation Department is scheduled to begin resurfacing sections of the highway between Fruitland and Payette, with the project set to start in Payette south of the intersection of U.S. 95 and 16th Street, and continuing south to the Payette River Bridge.

Crews will spend several days rebuilding and paving each section before moving on to the next, according to a press release, and the project will remove deteriorated pavement before the application of new asphalt.

U.S. 95 will be reduced to one lane in each direction where space allows, but narrower sections of the roadway will have flaggers directing traffic through the one-lane work zone, ITD said.

Crews also will be replacing underground utilities. and constructing curbs and gutters. between 16th Street and 24th Street in Fruitland. and between 3rd Avenue and 6th Avenue in Payette, the release said.

Drivers should expect delays during the project and are asked to slow down in work zones, while watching for workers and flaggers.

Construction is scheduled to finish in the fall.

Motorists can check 511.idaho.gov for live-time traffic impacts and delays, ITD said.

Project maps, construction updates and email signup information are available at itd.idaho.gov/project/95payette. For additional questions, email info@95Payette.org or call 208-826-5895.
