Meridian and Melba residents sent to hospital following head-on collision

A two-vehicle Owyhee County highway crash left three people hospitalized on Sunday.

A 22-year-old Melba man driving a Toyota truck south on Idaho 45 collided head-on with a GMC Terrain SUV at about 11:30 a.m. near mile marker 10, just south of Walters Ferry, according to an Idaho State Police news release.

First responders brought the truck driver and the 35-year-old Meridian male driver of the SUV to a local hospital by ground ambulance, the release said. A 45-year-old Melba man, who was a passenger in the SUV, was transported by air ambulance.

Police said all highway lanes were blocked for about two hours as emergency responders treated those involved and cleared the scene.

Idaho State Police is investigating the crash.
