‘Plan for delays’: Idaho 55 lanes closed near Nampa after sewer line incident

Drivers should expect delays on Idaho 55 following a sewer line accident in northwest Nampa.

Officials closed “several lanes” of Idaho 55 at Sundance Road, east of North Middleton Road, “after a contractor struck a high-pressure sewer line during fiber boring operations beneath the highway,” the Idaho Transportation Department said in a Monday morning news release.

The agency said repairs could take several days, so drivers should plan for delays and use caution. The right-hand turn lane and the right lane were closed as of 11 a.m., but that could change as work continues, ITD spokesperson Jill Youmans told the Idaho Statesman in an email.

“Traffic in the area will be reduced while crews work to restore the roadway,” the agency said.

Crews began assessing the damage immediately because “the strike is destabilizing the road base beneath the roadway surface,” the agency said.
