Idaho State Police said one person is dead following a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near Nampa on Friday night.

The crash occurred on I-84 near milepost 32 beneath the Middleton Road overpass just before 8 p.m., according to a press release. A silver 2003 Ford F350, driven by a 37-year-old male from Nampa, side-swiped another vehicle then attempted to flee from the scene by driving westbound in the eastbound lanes on I-84.

The man continued driving the wrong way before colliding head-on with a silver 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 23-year-old male from Ontario and had one passenger, a 20-year-old female from Homedale. A second car was also hit.

Police say the 20-year-old female passenger of the Hyundai died on the scene. All others involved were transported to local hospitals for their injuries.

Idaho State Police closed a portion of the highway just after 10 p.m. following the crash. It was reopened by 12:14 a.m.
