Update: Coroner releases name of local man who died after South Boise crash
Officials have released the name of the man who was pronounced dead over the weekend, days after a crash on South Cole Road in Boise.
On Jan. 15, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident with reported injuries in the area of West Amity Road and South Cole Road. One driver involved in the crash was pronounced dead Sunday in the hospital, according to a Tuesday press release from the office.
The Ada County Coroner’s Office identified the man on Tuesday afternoon as Todd Distin, 58, of Boise.
Deputies determined that a Hyundai Tucson driven by a 77-year-old woman was traveling southbound on South Cole, approaching the intersection with West Amity, when it collided with a Toyota Avalon that was turning left from Amity. The Toyota was driven by Distin and also had a female passenger, according to the release.
Distin and the unidentified 77-year-old woman were transported to local hospitals, where Distin “succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash,” the release said.
The coroner’s office said Distin was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m. Sunday in Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center’s intensive care unit in Boise. The office listed his cause of death as complications of blunt force injuries and the manner of death as accidental.
The accident is still being investigated by an Ada County Sheriff’s Office team.
